Hydroseeding & Erosion Control in Greater Victoria

Hydroseeding, erosion and sediment control, and revegetation across Victoria, the West Shore, and the Saanich Peninsula — from the same crews that have worked Vancouver Island since 1996.

Serving the South Island

Greater Victoria is the largest market on Vancouver Island and, on the West Shore, one of the fastest-growing regions in British Columbia. New subdivisions in Langford and Colwood, highway and road corridor work, and commercial development across the Capital Regional District all generate exposed soil that has to be stabilized and revegetated — usually on a schedule, and usually to a permit condition.

That's the work we've done on this Island for close to thirty years. Our crews and equipment run out of our Coombs headquarters on the Island Highway, which puts the whole south Island inside a comfortable working radius. You get the same trucks, the same operators, and the same environmental staff that handle our municipal and industrial contracts elsewhere in the province.

Conditions We Design For Down South

Thin Soils Over Rock

Much of the West Shore and the Highlands is shallow soil over bedrock with steep cut slopes. Hydroseed with the right tackifier holds where sod and hand seeding won't.

The Driest Coast in BC

South Island summers are genuinely dry. Seed mix selection and seeding window matter far more here than they do further up the Island.

Permit-Driven ESC

CRD municipalities set their own erosion and sediment control requirements. We install to the condition and support the documentation behind it.

Sensitive Ecosystems

Garry oak and coastal bluff systems on the south Island need native revegetation approaches, not a generic lawn mix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you service Greater Victoria?

Yes. We work throughout the Capital Regional District — Victoria, Saanich, the West Shore, the Saanich Peninsula, and out to Sooke. Crews and equipment mobilize from our Coombs headquarters on the Island Highway, so south Island work is a routine part of our schedule rather than a special trip.

Do you handle erosion and sediment control plans for CRD municipalities?

Yes. Most municipalities in the region require erosion and sediment control measures on construction and development sites, and requirements vary between them. We install the full range — sediment control, erosion blankets, slope stabilization, and hydroseed cover — and our environmental staff can support the documentation your permit calls for.

Can you hydroseed on the West Shore's rocky terrain?

Yes, and it's one of the better tools for it. Much of Langford, Colwood, and the Highlands sits on thin soils over rock with steep cut slopes. Hydroseeding with the right tackifier and mulch holds seed and soil in place on grades where sod is impractical and hand seeding simply washes off.

What about Victoria's dry summers?

The south Island is the driest part of coastal BC, so seed mix and timing matter more here than further north. We spec drought-tolerant mixes suited to the site and advise on the timing and watering that will actually get you establishment — rather than seeding into conditions that set the job up to fail.

Do you work with developers and contractors in the region?

Regularly. The West Shore is among the fastest-growing areas in British Columbia, and most of our south Island work is subdivision development, road and highway corridors, and commercial sites — coordinated to your construction schedule and inspection timelines.
